Favorite CDing Stuff

Rockin' Green detergent - this stuff truely rocks!  We now use it for all of our laundry and the scents are just yummy!

Wool Dryer Balls - there are many WAHM shops online to order these from but I made my own.  I currently have 6 of them bouncing around in my dryer and man do they cut down on drying time.

Wool in general - I love my wool soakers and longies.  All of the ones I have I made out of old sweaters and once lanolized they are bulletproof over a fitted diaper.  They are awesome when K has a bit of a rash, between the fitted diaper and wool cover they really let his little tush breathe.

Hemp - I love my hemp inserts. They're nothing fancy, just some I sewed up in a hurry but they're great for overnight.  One of these days I'm really going to just get rid of all the microfiber and make the switch to all natural fibers (MF just tends to hold on to stink and it can be annoying)

I also love my planetwise hanging wetbag (or really just any large wetbag with a handle to hang from a doorknob).  We have one in the bathroom for those poopy diapers that need to be dunked so we don't have to carry them dripping wet all the way back to K's room to the diaper pail.  They're just so stinkin' handy and are also great for trips.

I have more I could add to this list but for once J says he's going to mop up the muddy pawprints from the kitchen floor so I'd better go keep an eye on K before he changes his mind.

DIY Laundry Detergent

Until recently we have been using Planet Detergent for washing K's diapers and I loved it, but here lately they just haven't been smelling as clean as I would like.  So I went on a search for something new.  I narrowed it down to either wanting to try Rockin' Green (because I've heard so many raves about it) and just making my own.  After talking it over with the hubby we decided to try making our own first and if it didn't work then we'd order some Rockin' Green.

Well, lets just say that so far I'm impressed!  Not only is it super cheap and easy to make, but the 2 loads of diapers that I've washed so far don't have any sort of smell coming out of the washer (I think part of our problem here is hard water).  So for now I'm totally sold on making our own, and I just might start making our own for washing the rest of our clothes too.

I got the recipe from The Eco-Friendly Family blog.

The Power of the Sun

Wondering how to get those lovely poo stains out of your little ones diaper and/or clothes?

Put them in the sun!  Yes, that's all there is to it.  Just wash them as usual and instead of drying them in the dryer lay them out in the sun to dry and watch those stains disappear at the same time.

Not only will you get rid of those not so pretty poo stains (or at least lighten them up a ton), but you'll save energy and money as well by not running your dryer (your diaper will last longer too!)

I love line drying my diapers and try to as much as I can.  With the cooler weather they don't always get completely dry out on the line but I can at least get some stains out and cut the time in the dryer down.
